Summary of the role:

Responsible for supporting regional sales engineers/managers with the full range of Trelleborg Marine Systems products. The Inside Sales Engineer (ISE) will play a critical role in efficiently receiving, processing, and leading sales opportunities within the TMSNA Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database. Efficiently processing incoming request for quotes (RFQs) from clients, and leading client follow-ups. The ISE role will span across the entire sales cycle from early business development & prospecting activities, all the way through submittal completion and handover to the project management team. In this technical sales support role, the ISE will contribute to growing TMSNA sales by performing strategic sales plans, actively engaging internal and external resources, and strengthening relationships with TMSNA existing clients, business partners, and prospects.

This is an entry / junior level technical sales position, intended to prepare success driven individuals for elevated roles within the organization based on their personal performance, engagement, competence, and demeanor.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Daily Tasks

  • Receive and qualify leads assigned by Marketing
  • Handle RFQs received from external customers and internal Sales Engineers. This includes but not limited:
    • Communicating on the phone and through email with customers to provide them with the accurate solution or product
    • Examining project drawings and specifications, submitting requests for information (RFIs) to the engineer on record (EOR)
    • Perform basic engineering calculations and design of marine fender systems
    • Develop bill of materials (BOMs) for projects
    • Sending quotes and technical proposals to customers
    • Attend design meetings with consultants and internal engineering team
  • Negotiate price and contract review within the limits of delegation of authority and in compliance with Trelleborg legal and commercial requirements.
  • Work with internal engineering, outside EORs and customers to develop in depth product submittals for projects/orders
  • Work with sales, engineering, finance, and project management teams to ensure project handover from sales to the project team is flawless, efficient, and clear.
  • Work with other Trelleborg Businesses to provide combined proposals to customers (as required)

Long Term - Strategic Tasks

  • Assist in coordination of, and attend, the following strategic objectives:
    • Conferences, exhibitions or events related to the marine industry
    • Seminars (including Lunch and learn sessions)

  • Provide manager feedback with regional market political, economic and related industry trends

  • Assist in forecasting of sales volume and profit for current and new product sales.

    • Ensure that sales processes and procedures are followed.

    • Ensure engagement and accurate data/collaborating with other departments (where required).

    • Support manager in the production and review of marketing materials for the region.
    • Assist manager in rolling out global and regional marketing strategies, including campaigns, whitepapers, electronic media, etc.
    • Identify gaps in marketing assets and pre-award documentation which is required in support of the regional Sales & Marketing plan.

    • Responsible for following the QMS and its procedures. Includes reporting of non- conformances and providing preventive/corrective actions in area of expertise.
    • Finds opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.

Education and Experience

  • This is an entry / junior level technical sales position focused within the marine construction & port management industry. Prior experience related to technical sales, project management, engineering / drafting, and / or supply chain management, is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university in an engineering or technical discipline preferred. Minimum H.S. Diploma and relevant experience.

We are looking for the successful applicant to facilitate building costing estimations and quotations, after analysing project requirements. Responsibilities:

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

As a Sales Engineer, we expect you to be responsible for developing new and existing business by identifying the needs of customers and tailoring engineered marine fender product proposals that meet these needs and the strategic direction of the company.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Sales Manager, Africa who is based out of Dubai.

Main tasks and responsibilities we expect:

  • Compilation, review and submission of quotes and tender proposals in accordance with company guidelines and sound commercial practice.
  • Review of contracts within company guidelines.
  • Reporting of sales and pipeline prospects and bid progress.
  • Keeping informed of product and market developments and trends.
  • Ensuring the safe, timely and efficient design, and manufacture, supply and/or delivery of products to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensuring project / orders meet both company and customer requirements and details are effectively communicated.
  • Collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure timely and profitable completion of projects / orders to meet contractual requirements.
  • Assisting to keep other internal business units informed of prospective opportunities that may be relevant to them.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales and Marketing Staff to understand customer requirements, to promote Marine Fender products and services and to provide sales support.
  • Development of the existing accounts and prospective accounts to ensure the securing of profitable business opportunities.
  • Development and sales of engineered solutions to meet the customer and industry specific needs.
  • Developing and maintaining accurate and detailed projects files.

Job requirements we expect:

Dubai based, however frequent travel (1 - 2 weeks per month) to customer sites for sales and customer development.

Main experience and education we expect:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Maritime field.
  • 3-5 years proven experience in sales, project engineering roles or equivalent, ideally in the marine (or related) sector.
  • French language skills would be preferred.
  • Strong persuasion and selling kills. Ability to connect with staff at all levels.
  • Strong lateral thinking, problem solving and sophisticated analytical thinking skills.
  • Strong project management principles
  • High level of autonomy
  • Moderate to strong understanding of engineering principles

  • Routine cadence of reviewing portfolio across sites in assigned capability to ensure profitability of products; this includes rationalization programs, reviewing tooling maintenance needs or upgrades
  • Works with manufacturing site management and planning to determine capacity contraints and assists in developing CapEx business case for additional equipment
  •  Identify and implement areas of improvement in the local site for cost savings, acts as a bridge to the commercial team to ensure customer understanding

Summary of Role:

The Application Engineer (AE) is responsible for providing technical advice and support to the sales and customer teams in order to develop, sell and successfully implement Trelleborg product, capabilities or service solutions that will meet the customer’s needs.  The AE will analyze the customers technical needs, incorporate the commercial needs, in order to develop proposals, with the support of Trelleborg factory and engineering support groups, outlining how the organization’s products and services can meet these needs and be integrated and implemented with the customers new and existing systems and equipment. 

Pre-sales activities include gathering of data, analyzing customer application, technical and commercial needs and recommending solutions.  Proposals can include preparation of the associated engineering drawings or 3D CAD models, explanations of proper implementation and installation techniques, presentations of research and findings, and personal communication with customer team.  Post-sales activities include analyzing seal failures, installation issues, hardware issues, overall system failures, and resolving problems and issues utilizing Trelleborg systems, procedures and resources.   

The AE is responsible for building relationships across all levels of engineering departments within existing customers and prospective target accounts to generate new business opportunities.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The primary function of the Application Engineer (AE) position is to provide technical advice and proposals to the sales team and customer team in order to develop, sell and successfully implement the Trelleborg product, capabilities and service solutions.

  • Collect and analyze information from customers to understand their business and their technical needs and expectations.
  • Develop technical proposals to show how Trelleborg’s products and services can meet customer needs and be integrated and implemented with the customers existing systems and equipment and/or suggest changes needed in order to integrate the solution.
  • Develop and deliver technical sales presentations and respond to technical questions regarding Trelleborg's products, services, and capabilities.
  • Create or edit existing Trelleborg or Customer prints thru the use of NX, Adobe Pro, and other image editing software.
  • Manage technical prints and documents, routing and storage, by utilizing Teamcenter.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure the proper solutions are offered. Including, Trelleborg factories, SCM and 3rd party factory engineers, Trelleborg R&D test labs and Central Product Engineering, Product Managers, and Segment Managers.
  • Respond to customers questions and troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve technical problems that arise during or after implementation of Trelleborg solutions.
  • Identify value propositions for solution and be able to transition and explain customer value.

Who are you?

You are the next Junior Sales Manager at Trelleborg “Marine Fenders” product area, within the “Marine and Infrastructure” business unit. Tasks and responsibilities

  • Achieve Sales and Gross Profit targets and regional objectives.
  • Supervise the tender and sales process from lead generation to order fulfillment, coordinating with the design team to meet project timelines and requirements.

The Customer Support Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for providing and achieving outstanding customer service and total satisfaction to existing and prospective customers while building positive customer relationships to help enable development of new business opportunities.  The CSC is the foundation for customer support providing a source for initial contact for customers.  The CSC is responsible for customer order and quote management to include contract review, price analysis, delivery performance, and general reporting.  This position at times may need to source and purchase product from internal and 3rd party suppliers.

The CSC works with Logistic and Manufacturing facilities as well as supports Sales Engineers(SE), Application Engineers(AE), Customers Support Account Leads (CSAL), and Management to achieve their goals and KPIs.  As a result of the large team, they often have multiple tasks competing for their time requiring excellent organizational and communication skills. In some situations, the CSA may handle accounts within a team or solo.  As a result, they may be required to perform additional duties as needed to support accounts.

The ideal candidate should be local to Montreal and will be needed onsite. They must be fluent in both French and English.

The CSC can have a variety of tasks and responsibilities that may include but are not limited to:  

Customer Management:

  • Ensure contract review is executed in accordance with AS standards and local procedures in a timely fashion
  • Evaluate customer orders and demand against supplier deliveries in order to meet and exceed OTD targets
  • Interface with internal teams and external customers to proactively resolve customer complaints
  • May be required to source and purchase product from internal and 3rd party sources to fulfil customer requirements

Communication:

  • Understand and communicate changes to customer demand and requests as needed across the organization. Liaise with Hub, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Project Manager (PM), and Factory departments to ensure that all activities are aligned with Trelleborg and the Customer’s KPIs
  • Resolve delivery schedule problems and negotiate delivery schedule changes

Hub Operations:

  • Work with the BPM and AHA tools to implement a continuous improvement culture to increase efficiencies and profitability by identifying potential improvements to the internal work processes
  • Provide proactive communication, analysis, and problem solving to team members

Administrative:

  • Work with logistics facilities to continuously improve transit and delivery times and satisfy or exceed customer OTD targets.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with AS9100.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 1 yr. Customer Service experience required
  • Able to fluently speak both French and English
  • Associate degree strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • Knowledge of basic business sales and marketing practices preferred
  • Experience in the Aerospace, Sealing, or Polymer industry is beneficial
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements is beneficial

Education and Experience:
