About the job

As the next Junior Application Engineer at Trelleborg, your key responsibility will be ensuring our system aligns with the applicable international design standards and fulfils customer design specifications.

You will deliver cost efficient system design that meets customer requirements and relevant international standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and recording engineering files and design requests on the Marine Systems Europe site.

Together with your team you will support and coordinate with sales and project managers in their daily work, as well as external personnel. You will also support customer service where needed as well as coordinate with clients on design related items.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Support the Technical Manager and Application Engineer in the Design Procedure at Quotation Stage and Order Stage.
  • Assign the level of Complexity of the Design Request into one of 3 types, dependent on the product type.
  • Review project specifications and drawings highlighting relevant key design data.
  • Determine the required outputs of the Design Request.
  • To promote TMI products and services and to provide sales support and explore new opportunities when they present themselves. 
  • Manage and complete projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Seek continual self-improvement & represent the company in a professional manner when developing and maintaining relationships with clients on a technical level.
  • Manage and coordinate the process of design result with the ICE team (Indian Centre of Excellence) via EPDM (Engineering Product Data Management).
  • Proactively following market trends and development relevant to the job and keep their managers informed.
  • Develop product knowledge and understand the market challenges.
  • Maintain records of customer interactions, technical issues, and solutions.
  • Provide sound technical advice on Marine Systems products to internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to optimize design with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Report key issues applicable to the Marine Systems business to the PG (product group) Technical Manager.
  • Travel domestically or internationally on a regular basis as required.

About the Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate, you are highly motivated and have recently completed your BSc degree in engineering, preferably with a background in mechanical or civil engineering, and you are an excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Therefore you have the ability to connect with stakeholders at all organizational levels and your strong lateral thinking skills make problem-solving a highly developed ability. It would also bee an asset if you have some basic experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks software, and a driving license, since the site is a bit remote.

You can work independently, prioritize tasks, handle your time efficiently, and address challenges. You have an understanding of operational budgets and reporting, as well as knowledge of the application of technical principles and techniques in design and production. You are also proficient in using Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. It would be advantageous, but not crucial if you have work experience in an engineering environment and international experience.
