About the Job

Summary of the Role:

Your role within the Materials team will be focused on providing a service for the evaluation, analysis, and development for the constituent properties of adhesives, coatings, paints and solutions used in production, compounds, and manufactured items.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Taking accountability for effective implementation, operation, and control of processes.
• Ensuring applicable customer, statutory & regulatory requirements are consistently met.
• Develop and evaluate coatings, bonding, paints and adhesive materials – specifically rubber to metal and to composites.
• Investigate and support production and process failures.
• Assess chemical risk under COSHH.
• Investigate and evaluate production and process failures, including customer reports on service performance.
• Determine testing methods and administer process control of test procedures.
• Laboratory analysis of materials including environmental effects.
• Support department in day-to-day testing for production.

Competencies:

The position calls for an individual who is educated at degree level or above in Chemistry/Polymer science and if you have five years of related experience that would be ideal too but is not essential. An understanding of manufacturing and laboratory processes and test methods will be key for this role. It is crucial that you are able to demonstrate solid understanding of protective coatings, paint systems, metal treatments and adhesive technologies. You will be familiar with technical report and specification generation for our internal and external customers.
