JOB SUMMARY
The Process Engineer follows lean manufacturing techniques to provide engineering support and develop robust manufacturing processes. Has a primary role in the engineering of new, modified and/or existing manufacturing operations.
DUTIES, Responsibilities, And Authorities
- To ensure that all process engineering activities are handled professionally and effectively.
- Ensure the coordinated support of all daily, weekly, process and administrative checks. To ensure engineering activities and support day to day operations in the manufacturing area/s.
- Understand equipment use and limitations, work with Engineering and Maintenance to improve.
Coordinate the Identification of poor production mold, raise awareness to production support, ensure that investigations are thorough and mold demands are submitted for replacements/preparing.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance and Engineering Manager on any EH&S, or equipment issues.
- To ensure all processes are aligned with an emphasis on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- To be a key team member for implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing techniques in project fulfilment and Kaizen activities.
- Assist in all quality deviations identified, initiate immediate action plans, monitor output, trial and implement initial and or long-term fixes and changes.
- Provide support for cross functional teams on customer returns to investigate, trial and implement initial and or long-term fixes and changes. Uses standard problem-solving tools, e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone.
- Coordinate and support New Product Introduction, to assist in the trialing of sample production and process evaluation.
- Analyses new product specifications and translates these into manufacturing processes to achieve expected quality levels and establish the reliability of the finished product.
- Responsible for the completion of the design and development of optimal, cost-effective, and reliable manufacturing processes.
- Performs DOEs, and participates in the development of control plans, Process Maps, and PFMEA documentation.
- Develops and documents standard operating procedures (SOP) and trains manufacturing personnel on SOPs
Continuation of DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with cross functional teams, in all areas on corrective actions and efficiency benefits.
- Use 6 Sigma methodology and be part of continuous improvement and change management projects.
- Provides mentorship to others through experiences and education as opportunities arise.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager and Engineering in support of all work areas as necessary.
- Ensure safety performance is adequately communicated.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education in Mechanical/Process/Production Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years engineering experience working in mold design of Plastic/Elastomer production.
Skills
- Knowledge and experience of 6 Sigma techniques, route cause analysis, elastomer production.
- Compression/ Injection Mold design techniques. Ability in using Mold design software for reading/creating mold drawing.
- Good communication skills, to be able to present ideas and concepts and delegate duties to others with effective monitoring and feedback.
- Excellent problem solving and analysis skills.
- Ability to plan, develop and deliver projects to time, cost and conclusion.
- Resolve issues in a timely and empathetic manner.
- To provide training and mentoring, sharing knowledge and ideas, management of others.
