About the Job

In this role, you will review and process all payroll accurately and on time for the site, partner with management, and address and resolve all HR issues in a timely manner using conflict resolution. Further responsibilities will be to limit liability, ensure fairness and compliance with all local, state, federal employment laws, as well as Trelleborg policies and procedures. Additionally, you will be responsible for tracking all PTO, leaves, etc. , and ensuring the HR department’s operations are running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Processes weekly and biweekly payroll on time
  • Employee relations - Utilizes conflict resolution skills to address employee issues.
  • Coaches, counsels and advises management (including but not limited to managers, supervisors, and other leaders) in how best to coach employees, improve morale and productivity, and resolve issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal labor regulations
  • Maintains and tracks PTO for all personnel accurately.
  • Acts as main point of contact for all employees’ queries on HR-related topics.
  • Maintains confidential employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Reviews and audits all employee hours.
  • Troubleshoots problems with payroll, direct deposit, benefits, PTO, etc.
  • Processes changes to employee records.
  • Reviews employee violations. Processes disciplinary actions and terminations due to excessive absenteeism, safety violations, violation of LCA, etc.
  • Administers compensation and benefit plans. Explains changes in benefits to employees. Troubleshoots issues. Processes all benefits changes (medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, 401k, etc.).
  • Serves as regular interface to temporary agencies. Reviews cost and effectiveness.
  • Receives, inputs, responds to and addresses all garnishments (child support, state and federal tax levies, student loans, creditors, court mandated, divorce decrees, etc.).
  • Administers all leaves (including, but not limited to FMLA, PFL, LOA, STD, LTD, bereavement, pregnancy, and jury duty).
  • Provides support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolves any issues that may arise.
  • Responds to requests for information and/or written verifications from current and past employees. Including income verifications, work verifications, benefits verification, etc.
  • Responds to requests for information or verification from state agencies, mortgage providers, loan providers, schools, etc.
  • Conducts all employee onboarding and helps organize training & development initiatives.
  • Coordinates background check, drug testing and I9 processing of new hires.
  • Organizes, tracks, and ensures compliance on initial 90-day reviews.
  • Addresses all employee terminations with Supervisor
  • Promotes use of Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) to assist employees with personal issues and/or utilizes for employer-directed issues such as mandatory anger management counseling.
  • Ensures all employee records are up-to-date and confidential.
  • Assists in talent acquisition and recruitment processes.
  • Assists managers to develop and implement Job Descriptions.
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Processes, documents and files all employee transfers, promotions, demotions, evaluations, recognition, attendance, safety violations, etc.
  • Addresses any suspected violations of reasonable suspicion program (drug/alcohol abuse).
  • Develops and implements necessary human resource policies and procedures.
  • Processes unemployment paperwork and attends unemployment hearings (via phone or onsite).
  • Performs other related tasks as directed

Education and Experience

  • Preferred: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, PHR certification, or equivalent background/experience
  • Preferred: Experience using Ultipro payroll system
  • Required: 4+ years experience as a Human Resource Generalist using HRIS system, processing payroll and addressing HR issues.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
