About the Job

Project buyer - will manages and coordinates the entire purchase of all new products or project, in conjunction with stakeholders and the overall strategy of the company,  responsible to turn new product development projects into serial production. Ensure the best possible fulfillment of the project requirements by controlling the supplier-relevant processes. Responsible for compliance with project-specific milestones and target costs in the assigned projects, Purchase order placement and order follow-up towards suppliers for components and materials to secure prototype build and production ramp-up

Ensure the organizational targets & objectives (price, delivery, and quality) are met through the structuring of efficient operating procedures, and close supplier collaboration, Negotiates the contractual conditions for projects, ensures compliance with contracts, monitors the purchasing budget and guarantees project margins

Role and Responsibilities:

1.  Project Management:

  • Carrying out quotation analysis and selection of suppliers in accordance with the category/supplier strategy and nomination of suppliers within the agreed supplier list
  • Organize, coordinate and optimize all procurement-related activities to ensure the success of each project
  • Track the purchasing status in projects, as well as escalations in the event of an imminent threat to the success of the project
  • Ensure that project quotes are prepared in a timely manner
  • Review and estimate BOM (Bill Of Material) in terms of costs and multi-source alternatives
  • Purchase order placement and order follow-up towards suppliers for components and materials to secure prototype build and production ramp-up
  • Ensure MRP systems are set accurately and at optimum levels to ensure availability of supply
  • Work with Sales/Operations/Engineering/R&D to determine “fit for purpose” specification or performance requirements
  • Working on inquiries and offers for new projects activities and ensure the project results are delivered on time in full
  • Independent management of quality, price and framework contract negotiations with suppliers on new project

2. Supplier Management:

  • Ensure the implementation of supplier strategy and development programs
  • Ensure good supplier relationships are maintained
  • Secure supply continuity by managing risks in a structured way

3. Ensure Purchasing Excellence: 

  • Drive and manage RFQs and negotiation for new projects in co-operation with relevant stakeholders
  • Identification and implementation of material cost reduction potentials in the project phase
  • Implement cost savings initiatives together with the Category Management
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of sourcing/supplier strategies

Education and Experience : 

  • BE Mechanical
  • 8 – 12  years of working experience in a Purchasing role from Automotive, Industrial segments
  • Experience in project management

Competencies  : 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process include Castings / Forgings / Sheet metals / Machined parts
  • Knowledge on material grades
  • Techno Commercial aware of total cost
  • Analytical, should be good at interpreting data & drawing conclusions
  • Ability to prepare & present to senior management an overview of budgeted vs actual costs trends including Variance analysis
