When it comes to marine and infrastructure solutions, we have over 40 years of experience in providing sophisticated marine fenders, oil and gas transfer, ship performance solutions, docking and mooring, surface buoyancy, and service and support. We work with specifiers on a project-by-project basis to determine best-fit solutions and supply fully integrated systems to fulfill even the most demanding specifications. Whether the project calls for equipment for a single berth, or an entire port, in-house design coupled with manufacturing and installation expertise ensures operational performance is maximized and long-term maintenance is minimized – keeping whole-life costs low.

As a Project Engineer, we expect you to be responsible for managing the overall project delivery process by facilitating and monitoring the design, manufacture, delivery, quality, and contractual compliance of products (projects) sold by the Marine Fender business to its customers.  The Project Engineer engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure products are manufactured and delivered to the client in line with client specifications and requirements.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Marine Fenders General Manager based out of Sydney.

Main tasks and responsibilities we expect:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent marine fender projects by coordinating the design, manufacture, delivery, and contractual compliance of the product.
  • Manage project procurement, budget, schedule, and internal reporting processes.
  • Implement project controls to ensure compliance with client requirements and project specifications.
  • Liaise with the relevant Sales Engineer ensuring that comprehensive handover and sign-off of awarded contracts.
  • Coordinate with overseas quality teams, generate and approve quality assurance documentation ensuring documentation is integrated into the manufacturing process.
  • Facilitate the project design process, communicate project design requirements and specifications to overseas design teams, and coordinate with the project Client.
  • Liaise with the project Client and carry out Client requirements such as reporting on progress and quality.

Job requirements we expect:

Predominantly Sydney based, however occasional (2-3 times per year) travel to site (Australia/New Zealand) for project commissioning.  Potential travel to China for quality inspections and client liaison.

Main experience and education we expect:

  • Engineering / Construction Management degree or diploma
  • 2-5 years experience in project engineering roles (or similar)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Technical proficiency is desirable. Mechanically inclined individuals with the ability to read and understand technical prints are preferred. Knowledge of rubber/plastic products and familiarity is helpful
