Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month end transactions and payroll processing functions within the Finance department. This position will take direction with general supervision from the Controller and requires interaction with all levels of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Processes vendor invoices for payment and performs weekly payment processing.
- Ensures that appropriate purchase order and receiving processes have occurred; requires researching the invoice, purchase order, or receiving problem to effectively find a solution.
- Ensures that invoices are paid on a timely bases; requires responding to vendor inquiries regarding payment status.
- Reconciles Accrual Accounts on a monthly basis
- Support Intercompany Netting and reconcile disputes
- Complete monthly Journal Entries (Intercompany, Payroll, Nordea, Benefits, Accruals and Accounts Payable)
- Conducts research as needed for various accounting related projects and details information for the Controller.
- Assists in developing local methods and procedures in line with corporate guidelines.
- Completes periodic account reconciliations and related reports as directed.
- Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
- Process weekly payroll maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and completeness.
- Verifies and reconciles the Master Payroll Reports from the payroll carrier; requires entering information into the payroll worksheets and General Ledger and reconciling payroll related General Ledger accounts.
- Manages entering levy and wage garnishments into the payroll system as well as giving timely notification to impacted employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with an Accounting focus. This position should have 5+ years previous accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience working with an ERP system a plus; JDE and UKG experience preferred.

- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Overall intermediate computer skills.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used
This position is located in the administrative offices of a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Requires manual dexterity for typing and considerable time at a computer. This position will spend about 5% of their time on the production floor where heavy machinery is present and loud sounds exist.
