Qualifications:
Required:
- 2-year degree in Automated Systems & Robotics, Mechatronics or Fluid Power OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
Desired:
- PLC programming
- Mechanical design focus
- Controls focus
- Pneumatic and electrical schematic reading and creation
- Pneumatic valve and cylinder sizing
- CAD experience
- Project management
- Fabrication, plumbing, and wiring skills
- Programming experience with Omron, Denso, ABB, Maple Systems, InduSoft, IMPACT, Cognex
Senior Automation Engineer (in addition to all the above):
- A minimum of 7 years applicable experience
Responsibilities:
Mechanical:
- Collaborates with the automation team to determine project direction
- Provides designs which ensure operator safety
- Designs, assembles and tests: fixtures, robotic cells, and end of arm tooling
- Utilizes 3D printing where possible
- Lays out and fabricates electrical panels
- Troubleshoots and improves existing equipment’s mechanical design
- Performs research, analysis, design and development of lean manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment for new and existing projects
- Supports Manufacturing and Production staff to solve technical, quality and production problems to ensure consistent product flow, and make recommendations to senior staff and/or managers to improve production processes
Electrical and Pneumatic:
- Designs electrical and pneumatic circuits which ensure operator safety
- Creates electrical and pneumatic component bill of materials
- Wires electrical panels and equipment / Plumbs pneumatic circuits and equipment
- Troubleshoots and improves existing equipment’s control system
Software:
- Programs PLCs, HMIs, Robots as well as SCADA and vision systems
- Uses SolidWorks to design 3D models and create 2D drawings
- Uses Visio to design electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Uses an ERP system to enter hours and requisitions, complete repair requests
- Uses Microsoft Office for project documentation
Documentation:
- Creates Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Product Specific Operating Procedures (PSOPs), and standard training documents
- Trains personnel on SOPs and PSOPs
Senior Automation Engineer:
An ideal candidate will maintain a high level of autonomy and possess the skill set necessary for the above tasks and responsibilities, with the addition of the following:
