We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Project Engineering Group responsible for:
- Actioning technical design packages within the Docking and Mooring projects function at Trelleborg Marine and Technology. This includes generating a complete set of client documentation.
- Coordinating with clients, vendors and suppliers to ensure the project design is fully tested, detailed and delivered on time and to budget.
- Ensuring the engineering design of projects is in accordance with relevant local standards, statutory requirements, technical specifications and industry standard methodology.
- Performing mechanical/structural computer-aided design (CAD), as well as delivering manufacturing and assembly drawings that meet project requirements based on Trelleborg Marine Systems and customer requirements as well as relevant standards (IEC, AS, ISO etc.)
- Working with other specialists and internal company personnel to define product design specifications, develop conceptual and final design solutions, run and coordinate project specific design and supply activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing/analysis of new and existing products.
- Assisting in generating Project Specific User Documentation; actioning and lead sourcing of BOM components and assemblies using ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX)
- Coordinating and communicating project specific manufacture and test requirements; working with the production team to ensure any manufacturing issues are resolved promptly and efficiently
- Checking product assemblies and validating testing of products
- Gaining and sharing knowledge of AS4100 / OCIMF / AWS and other mechanical and structural standards/practices
- Assisting with the preparation and population of Installation, Operations and Maintenance documentation
- Updating design, technical specification and manufacturing documentation for standard products and providing recommendations to the marketing/sales/projects team.
- Carry out key Strategic Initiatives as detailed in the Strategic Plan
To be considered for the position we must see:
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of relevant working experience in project engineering
- Working experience in a mechanical design environment with a Design House, Contractor or Vendor
- Experience with 3D CAD (Solidworks), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is essential. Experience using Mathcad preferred not essential.
- Understanding and experience working with AS, ISO or similar standards are preferred.
- Commercial and contract management understanding is preferred

- Ability to interpret and apply contract documentation
- Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD and Solidworks; excellent CAD skills
- Outstanding problem diagnosis and solving skills; high and appropriate attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English; excellent interpersonal skills
- Positive, energetic and self-motivated
- Experience working within a quality system
