Packaging Associate

Summary of Role

Under the direction of the Orkot Value Stream Supervisor, the Packaging Associate will serve as a utility helper assisting departments in need. Tasks will include wrapping mandrels in the wrapping room, packaging products for shipping, deburring/shaving products, assisting with plant clean-up, and any other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Wrap mandrels or sheets on standard bath.
• Must be able to measure the parts and know how to use the Mic, caliper, Pi tape, and be able to read blueprints. Training will be provided.
• Must be able to enter jobs on the work order, follow WOT instructions and select parts for wrapping.
• Will be able to enter the jobs on the computer, print labels and check counts.
• Remove mandrel using proper equipment.
• Responsible for keeping their work area clean and orderly.
• Must be able to count parts and package accordingly.
• Deburrs parts utilizing a safety razor.
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

• Ability to read and write English

Safety

• Employee must wear Personal Protective Equipment when in the manufacturing plant or tool room.
• No jewelry or loose clothing when in the manufacturing plant of tool room.
• Must follow established Safety Procedures.

Work Environment

The employee primarily works in the air-conditioned manufacturing plant. While in the plant, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.  The noise level in the plant work environment can be loud. The employee must be comfortable working with strong smelling chemicals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The position involves sitting, walking and lifting less than 50 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently.  When lifting anything the employee feels in beyond their capacity, or anything in excess of 50 pounds, the employee is required to use a lifting aid, such as a crane or lift table, or request assisting in lifting from another employee.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, first shift, non-exempt position, and days of work are Monday through Friday.   Hours of shift are Monday – Thursday 5:00 am to 3:30 pm with potential mandatory over-time on Fridays and Saturdays, but schedule may vary depending on business needs.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED

Preferred Education and Experience

1-3+ years’ experience in a production and/or machining environment

Work Authorization

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
