About the job

Reporting to the General Manager in Japan the successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process including effectively developing new and existing business and, managing and completing the delivery of sales, for the Marine Systems Division of Trelleborg, whilst ensuring the products meet market demands and customer requirements which is in compliance with the strategic direction of the Company.

Additional responsibilities include;

  • Review and discussion of sales contracts
  • Keep informed of product and market developments and trends and follow up with customers on opportunity leads.
  • Development of project estimations based on capabilities and project requirements. Compilation, review and submission of quotes, bids, and tender proposals in accordance with company guidelines and sound commercial practice.
  • Ensure bid submissions meet requirements and details are communicated to all partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure timely preparation and readiness to accept potential contracts pending.
  • Supervise final project financial performance on an ongoing basis to develop live bidding information. Assist and keep other areas of business informed of prospective opportunities that may be relevant to them. Liaise with the team to understand customer requirements, to promote products and services and to provide sales support.
  • Attend industry functions and trade shows to network and maintain business industry presence. Development of the existing accounts, customer relationships and prospective accounts to ensure the securing of profitable business opportunities.
  • Development and sales of engineered solutions to meet the customer and industry specific needs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed project bid files with online management software and network filing. Supervise and carry out all periodic reporting including monthly reports, sales trip reports, and key prospect reports. Keep key projects, customers, contacts, and prospect registers up to date.
  • Passion for Sales Excellence be it processes or the maintenance of data.

Travel requirements (including overnight travel) will be approximately 25-30% of work time. Travel will include local, national, and international requirements for customer visits, business meetings, and trainings.

About the ideal candidate

  • Minimum of 4 Year College degree required. (Engineering preferred)
  • Fluent Japanese verbal and written language skills.
  • Passion and experience in sales, or engineering as well as developing sales and marketing strategies. Dedicated to providing excellent service and understanding of Total Customer Satisfaction
  • Strong Technical proficiency. Must be mechanically inclined with the ability to read and understand technical prints preferred. Knowledge of rubber/plastic products and a familiarity with ISO quality requirements is helpful
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent people and relationship building skills. Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and accuracy
