Production Engineer - Semicon Cleanroom

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical support to all TSS Tewkesbury Semicon Product. Provide support for Operations, Customer Services and Production Support Technicians to deliver timely solutions to daily production issues, the development of New Product Introduction and in the delivery of efficiencies as well as an implementer of change. Assisting and providing essential improvement opportunities by data driven investigation and rational process improvements, working to all the relevant process controls, and applying both safe and best practice to the manufacturing process.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Semicon:

• Manage project activities in accordance with the project schedule and budget, while working in collaboration with cross functional teams.
• Using Cross Functional working provide the initial and where required ongoing technical support for all Semicon product manufactured at or on behalf of TSS Tewkesbury.
• Provide support to deliver effective elastomer based sealing solutions in conjunction with product design for customised applications, and determine feasibility with production through the New Product Introduction process.
• Respond to engineering requests from Customers (internal & external) and provide them with technical arguments for the proposed solution.
• Provide and deliver presentations to provide technical support to Sales Engineers, other TSS colleagues and external customers.
• Support the compilation and project managing technical and commercial proposals.
• Maintain a project and process database and report effectively on project and process status outcome and follow up actions to their conclusion.
• Support the preparation and approvals of technical documentation including drawings, specifications etc.
• Support the identification, proposals and quotations required for New Product Introduction to support business growth and other activities in support of TSS Semicon products as required.

Production:

• To provide second line support to the area of responsibility focused upon the efficient and effective delivery of overall quality, controlling all aspects of product manufacture. To coordinate the continuous improvement of efficiencies of the physical workplace, equipment and processes with the people and work outputs.
• Attend daily accountability meetings for the area of responsibility and coordinate the completion of relevant actions.   Assist Operations in achieving the Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) targets, i.e., Scrap, OTD, NPI, etc.
• Ensure the coordinated support of the operation and all daily, weekly, process and administrative checks are completed.
• Assist in identifying and creating process flow maps for the areas of responsibility to ensure the identification creation, maintenance, and delivery of training against, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Visual Aids and Quality Alerts, etc.
• Understand all equipment use and limitations, liaise with Engineering and Maintenance to improve performance and maximise equipment capabilities. Improve process equipment programs and volume increase opportunities.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance and HSE Officer on any Health & Safety, environmental or equipment service / breakdown issues.
• Plan, organise and ensure adequate resources are available to carry out the workload, liaising with all areas of the operation to ensure timely throughput.
• Coordinate with Operations and Process Technicians any additional training of personnel required, ensuring compliance to Safe Systems of Work, risk assessments, procedures, and processes.
• Consider and propose potential equipment or production layouts, investigate, propose, prepare, and deliver capital projects to improve and enhance manufacturing capability.
• Coordinate the Identification of poor tooling, raise awareness to production support, ensure that investigations are thorough and tool demands are submitted for replacements, relevant BILL changes are made to qualify the requests.
• As required for the areas of responsibility, review and sign off green BOM, yellow and white MO, ensuring a permanent change is identified and recorded to implement the BILL change.
• Coordinate and action all quality deviations identified, initiate immediate action plans, monitor output, liaise with Process Engineers and Process Technicians to investigate, trial, and implement initial and or long-term fixes and changes.
• Use 6 Sigma methodology to identify and investigate opportunities to reduce costs of manufacture, improve efficiencies and profitability, manage and be part of continuous improvement and change management projects.

Education and Experience

• Minimum HND Engineering
• Engineering Degree preferred
• Trained and experienced in process improvements and controls
• 6 Sigma Green belt minimum preferred
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar manufacturing environment
• Cleanroom experience preferred

Key Interfaces and stakeholders

• Coordinate and support New Product Introduction, to assist in the trialing of sample production and process evaluation.
• Support Operations, Process Engineering and Process Technicians in the introduction of new products and the maintenance of existing production to relevant production controls.
• Feedback on issues to Senior Management and coordinate actions and provisions.
• Work closely with cross functional teams, in all operational areas, i.e., Quality, Supply Chain, Production and Process Engineering, to provide and analyse information and data, put into place corrective actions and efficiency benefits, supporting, and liaising between all departments to establish working plans for implementation.
• Liaising with the Operations Manager and Process Engineering in support of other work areas when necessary.
• Provide support for cross functional teams on customer returns to investigate, trial and implement initial and or long-term fixes and changes.
