The Business Development Manager Reports to the General Manager and forms part of the senior management team, this pivotal position forms part of the growth strategy for TSS Southampton and has joint responsibility for defining, setting and achieving company wide objectivesWorking closely with the GM to support the growth of the business and identify new commercial opportunities. The emphasis for this position will be to drive additional growth for TSS Southampton through project development and overall pipeline ownership for our Race-Tec Sealing division. A crucial element is developing and proactively promoting the One TSS mindset and attitude throughout the organisation. The position will be an integral part of the sales organisation and will embrace direct customer interaction, have a clear vision of the future and be able to introduce and develop new methods of working using continuous improvement methodology. By linking all of these functions this role will be responsible for promoting the global capabilities of Race-Tec Sealing for the benefit of our established and prospective customer base. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive growth in line with TSS Southampton budget 
  • Identify, action and convert additional profitable business opportunities in the form of projects for Race-Tec. 
  • Working with the internal sales and management team to drive projects through to delivery. 
  • Management and development of the pipeline to achieve the ambitions for growth. 
  • Creation of the UK Monthly report (Sales section) for the Global Operations Engineering Plastics division 
  • Assisting in setting the yearly ambition goals for the entirety of the Race-Tec division. 
  • To assist with the development and execution of the commercial and sales strategy plan for TSS Southampton. 
  • Aligning the relevant Race-Tec objectives with the wider TSS Southampton objectives and business plan. 
  • Organising and running the regular TSS Southampton sales and development meetings 
  • Coordinating with Manufacturing, Product Engineering and Product Line Directors to ensure our products updates and capabilities are delivered to the broader Trelleborg network. 
  • Liaison with the relevant stakeholders to ensure project and segment focus is understood throughout the wider TSS organisation.  
  • Responsibility for all Race-Tec UK, EU and USA accounts. 
  • Setting the strategic and non strategic account responsibilities 
  • Management and responsibility for the Race-Tec sealing growth plans 
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Education and Experience

  • Qualified to degree level in relevant field or with comparable demonstrated experience. 
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional peer group team and to drive the organization towards achieving key business goals 
  • Managerial skills: Planning, organising and prioritising 
  • Product knowledge and ability to identify viable and profitable opportunities 
  • Broad knowledge of industry segments & working with cross functional teams 
  • Comfortable both in technical and commercial environments. 
  • Sales Acumen. 

Competencies

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead by example 
  • Proven commercial experience including customer relationship management; pricing; with strong negotiation skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the flexibility and adaptability to liaise with and manage at all levels in the organization

  • Proven ability to manage workflows with multiple stakeholders in an effective manner. 
  • Demonstrate experience in senior sales management position. 
  • Experience of technical sales would be a distinct advantage.
