Senior Software Engineer - Development - Android

We have an Information Technology (IT) Division in Trelleborg which consists of a team in Trelleborg (Stuttgart) and a team in Bangalore (India) to support the internal IT requirements of Trelleborg.

The IT Division in Bangalore is looking for Team Lead - Android. The person suited for this role must at-least have 6 years of IT background with experience as Team Lead - Android and has been in a position in earlier employment that was highly exposed to an international business environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading a team of Android developers to conceive and develop mobile applications.
• The candidate should be passionate about mobile apps and should inspire the team.
• Should be hands on and need to contribute individually if required. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be coding alongside the team. We’re looking for a leader who can win the technical respect of the team with their own accomplishments, work in an agile, fast-changing environment, and lead us to building great products.
• Lead technical architecture, coding standards, and other team policies.
• Assist with interviewing and attracting new talent to Organization.
• Manage individual team members, both junior and senior, encouraging their professional growth and maximizing their potential contributions.
• Accountable for the team’s performance, work satisfaction and growth.
• Keep track of new updates in Android space and lead the team in the right direction.
• Help the team to design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable An-droid code.
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Identify and correct bottlenecks before it becomes an issue.
• Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision
• Work with team members on integration and application deployment.
• Work with cross-functional teams, Analysts, Business, and the team to create a compelling application with great user     experience      
• Other duties as assigned.

Profile:

• BE or Equivalent degree (CS preferred) from a reputed institute.
• 6 years of experience in mobile / web technologies.
• 4 years of software development experience in Android technology.
• Ability to handle multiple android projects with team members.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Android Studio coding practices to develop Android apps.
• Good understanding of OO programming, multithreading, multitasking, design patterns, database design, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Augmented Reality app development is a plus.
• Desired knowledge / experience in Game engines like Unity 3D.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and functional programming.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.
• Experience in scanner integration from Android platforms such as QR Code, Bluetooth, Sensors etc
• Knowledge/Experience in hybrid frameworks such as Ionic, react is an added advantage
• Experience with Firebase and in-app messaging services
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
• Implementing measures to safeguard users' data.
• A knack for benchmarking and optimization of apps.
• Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Bitbucket.
• Familiarity with continuous integration preferably using Jenkins.
• Thorough code review of team members and identifying / correcting mistakes before each app is released to maintain code quality and standards adherence.
• Collaborating with UI and UX Designers, as well as Software Testers, to ensure that each app is presentable and in perfect working order.
• Monitoring app reviews to detect areas for improvement. Proactively take app updates to avoid negative reviews.
• Creating app updates, including bug fixes and additional features, for release.
• Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
• Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
• Adheres to development, SLA deadlines and schedules
• Understands the necessity of and contributes to coding standards and best practices and train the team to follow the latest standards and guidelines.
• Should be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
• Self-motivated to explore new technologies, applications, and environments.
• Experience working in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid environments
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate, collaborate effectively at both technical and non-technical level.
