Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure business unit, with over 50 years market-leading experience in the manufacture of state-of-the-art docking & mooring systems, is looking for exceptional talent to drive sales in Japan. This exciting position in a growing industry could be the role for you!

About the Job

The purpose of the Sales Manager position is to develop new and existing business, secure orders and effectively carry out sales functions for Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure’s Docking & Mooring product group in Japan, ensuring product solutions meet market demands whilst following the strategic direction of the company.

  • As the first point of contact, respond to customer enquiries and coordinate with other departments to provide the necessary information and solutions.
  • Work closely with the sales and applications teams to understand customer requirements and provide sound technical advice on Docking & Mooring products to customers.
  • Keep up to date on product and market developments & trends.
  • Ensure the safe, timely and technically acceptable provision of proposals.
  • Handle the bid process from inquiry to award to meet both company and customer requirements and ensure details are effectively communicated to all partners.
  • Regularly maintain the integrity of the information in the CRM on a weekly basis.
  • Negotiate contract pricing and offers are clearly defined with acceptance of technical and commercial clarifications internally and externally.
  • Upon successful sale, consolidate and handover commercial and technical documentation to the Projects team.
  • Regularly report key issues applicable to the Docking & Mooring business to the Regional Sales Manager, APAC and General Manager, Japan.
  • Understand Japanese standards and codes applicable to our products and assist with strategic planning to overcome barriers to market.
  • Attend and assist with coordination of site installation works as required.
  • Assist the Aftersales Service team with works information when local assistance is required.
  • Assist with translation of documentation when required on behalf of the Projects team.
  • Assist with any customs and local transport related matters.
  • Travel domestically on a frequent basis and internationally as required.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the TMI business division.

We would like to see in the ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified within Engineering, Technical or Marine fields.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in direct sales to customers within a technical industry preferable.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong planning & effective implementation skills.
  • Strong persuasion and selling skills.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate tasks and requirements.
  • Ability to handle a sophisticated work environment and multitask.
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • A sound understanding of sales and marketing strategy and tactics.
  • Great teammate with an open communication style.
  • Conduct all aspects of business with integrity.
  • Self-motivated with a strong aim to exceed expectations.
  • Understanding of contract formation and contract management.
  • Appreciation of cultural, industry and social differences.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in English and Japanese; additional language skills are highly desirable.
