Summary of the role

To develop new products and processes utilising new materials or technologies. Identify and evaluate new polymers, additives and technologies to enhance our product portfolio. Manage a portfolio of development projects from inception, until handed  to production. Deliver projects to the agreed timescales, meet key customer requirements and ensure that the products developed can be made in a capable process. 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental

 Maintain an effective Health, Safety & Environmental culture in the Company, that exceeds standards of performance as determined by Trelleborg Nottingham Limited and legislative rules and regulations.

 Ensure that all operations in the laboratory are compliant with the company’s systems and policies, and that a culture of continuous improvement is engendered

 

Product Development And Project Management

 Develop and validate new products to meet customer requirements

To identify and evaluate new polymers, additives and technologies to enhance our product portfolio

Identify new product ideas and opportunities

Ensure that all projects are managed in line with the requirements of the Trelleborg Nottingham development process and Salesforce system.

Develop and validate changes to existing products

Ensure that all projects are delivered on time

Ensure that all products developed can be manufactured in a capable process

Ensure compliance with the Engineering Change Process

Work with the Technical Support Manager to prepare the Product specifications and the Technical Data Sheets for new products

Liaise with planning and production staff to facilitate on time production of project trials and samples.

Through monthly written reports and day to day communication, ensure that the business is kept up to date with project progress and status.

 

Technical Sales Optimisation

Support the sales force by attending customer meetings, ensuring that all visits are documented in a visit report that captures key discussion points and actions.

Ensure that all customer requirements are captured and incorporated into the product design documentation.

Responsible for the production of development samples as defined by the company trials criteria.

 

Laboratory

Maintain and promote the highest standards of housekeeping in the laboratory

Support the continuous improvement of the laboratory and quality of both product and customer service

 

Business Support

To review product costs and target reductions

To review product off quality levels and target reductions

To review efficiency and target improvement

To set up new products on Sage and ensure all Work Instructions are up to date and provide the necessary information needed for successful manufacture

To provide technical support to production ensuring the swift and fully documented resolution of manufacturing issues.

Actively support and promote Quality Improvement Initiatives.

Support the maintenance and writing of the ISO 9001 system in relationship to the Technical department’s activities.

 

Communication & Leadership

 

Maintain effective communications with commercial, customer supply and production colleagues.

Maintain an effective reporting procedure as required by the Technical Director.

Actively engage all operatives in solving problems.

Actively encourage and develop an open culture where employees feel able and supported in bringing forward ideas.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Project Manager and Portfolio Coordinator role will be at the forefront of our project management efforts, overseeing operations across multiple manufacturing sites in the US. The overall responsibilities will encompass leading, planning, reporting and also executing projects within the manufacturing domain, requiring a strong grasp of manufacturing processes to optimize workflows and ensure project success.

The role will be a key liaison between cross-functional teams, maintaining stakeholder relationships and communicating project status transparently with the PMO office in Europe and to the senior management. The role necessitates travelling, predominately within the US sites for on-site support, but not limited to, with the aim of underscoring the importance of the role in aligning projects with all the BUs and stakeholders.

The main deliverables include managing the project portfolio in the TSS Operations US sites, supporting local project managers, and assuring that all projects follow Group standards. Provide training and support local project managers and in addition prepare comprehensive project plans, resource allocation, and proactive risk mitigation strategies during project execution.

The role will contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and drive successful project outcomes.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Portfolio

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of running projects within the TSS Operations US manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate with all the sites and cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables of projects.
  • Maintain the project portfolio and report status updates to the PMO Office and senior management team
  • Promote the TSS Project management culture and drive project management improvement across their area.
  • Stay in regular contact with the PMO and the TSS Task Force team to receive updated training and tools and provide status and feedback.
  • Be an early adopter and promoter to support local project managers with any updates in project management 
  • Be the local spokes-person for project management and ready to handle project management related Q&As
  • Facilitate and run sessions to upskill local project teams on available tools
  • Critically analyzing and ensuring best practices.

 Project Execution & Support

  • Lead and execute assigned projects
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
  • Utilize strong knowledge of manufacturing processes for effective coordination.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate project status
  • Interact with all the sites and business units to coordinate cross-functional project workstream teams to define detailed tasks which need to be executed during the project lifetime.
  • Manage external and internal parties to make sure that all tasks are done in a timely manner and at the expected quality and cost.
  • Efficiently allocate resources and monitor utilization.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and conflicts
  • Manage the project budget 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, or Engineering.
  • Proven Project Manager experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality management would be considered an asset

Summary of the Role:

As a Project Coordinator you will be responsible for the coordination of new products/lapsed products as identified by the project management criteria, as well as coordinating costings for these. The Project Coordinator will ensure that all customer requirements are met up to and including the completion of the first article inspection.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the design engineers in their roles as project managers
  • Coordinating costings for new designs and lapsed products.
  • Coordinating the introduction of new products and lapsed products.
  • Ensuring accurate and best costs achievable
  • Coordinating cost reduction activities
  • Assist the design engineers in maintaining project relevant risk management.
  • Adherence to relevant project management and costing processes, monitor and report on KPIs, take needed actions on deviations.
  • Assist in conducting process reviews and continuous process improvement involving all stakeholders.
  • Adherence of the policies and objectives for relevant management system standards, customer, statutory and regulatory requirements cascaded by the senior management team.
  • Assist in meeting the required project timeline, quality, and costs. Secure the production date (SOP), correct delivery quantity and the project cost for newly produced or re-introduced products.
  • Assist in the communication of customer requirements and specification across the relevant departments.
  • Coordinating and liaising with the relevant departments, acting as a central contact point for the end to end to process, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist the design engineer in compiling or sourcing all the necessary documentation within the project folder including synchronization of master data in the ERP, CRM, PDM etc. and its further maintenance.
  • Responding to project changes by examining their effects, timeline, and costs.
  • Support all external certifications driven by the quality department as well as customer product acceptance inspection or costumer audit.

Experience:

Strong project management qualifications and/or 3-5 years of project coordination experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation of technical manufacturing processes, particularly in the rubber industry, with a strong customer orientation. It is an advantage that the candidate is proficient in the use of ERP systems.

Communication is a key part of this role as you will be interactive with our customers and internal partners. Therefore, we are looking for someone who has the ability to communicate professionally with confidence and concisely.
