As a Project Engineer, we expect you to be responsible for managing the overall project delivery process by facilitating and monitoring the design, manufacture, delivery, quality, and contractual compliance of products (projects) sold by the Marine Fender business to its customers.  The Project Engineer engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure products are manufactured and delivered to the client in line with client specifications and requirements.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Marine Fenders General Manager based out of Sydney.

Main tasks and responsibilities we expect:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent marine fender projects by coordinating the design, manufacture, delivery, and contractual compliance of the product.
  • Manage project procurement, budget, schedule, and internal reporting processes.
  • Implement project controls to ensure compliance with client requirements and project specifications.
  • Liaise with the relevant Sales Engineer ensuring that comprehensive handover and sign-off of awarded contracts.
  • Coordinate with overseas quality teams, generate and approve quality assurance documentation ensuring documentation is integrated into the manufacturing process.
  • Facilitate the project design process, communicate project design requirements and specifications to overseas design teams, and coordinate with the project Client.
  • Liaise with the project Client and carry out Client requirements such as reporting on progress and quality.

Job requirements we expect:

Predominantly Sydney based, however occasional (2-3 times per year) travel to site (Australia/New Zealand) for project commissioning.  Potential travel to China for quality inspections and client liaison.

Main experience and education we expect:

  • Engineering / Construction Management degree or diploma
  • 2-5 years experience in project engineering roles (or similar)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Technical proficiency is desirable. Mechanically inclined individuals with the ability to read and understand technical prints are preferred. Knowledge of rubber/plastic products and familiarity is helpful

In unserem Bereich Additive Manufacturing haben Sie die Gelegenheit für mind. 5 Monate an Innovationen in der additiven Fertigung mitzuwirken. Im Zuge des experimentellen Arbeitens entwickeln Sie Versuchsreihen, ermitteln Materialeigenschaften, verbessern die Qualitätssicherung und Produktionsstandards. About the Job

You will be responsible for the management and successful execution of assigned KLAW LNG Hose Transfer System (HTS) projects, from receipt of order through to contract completion, to contractual quality, cost and delivery requirements. The Project Manager will ensure that project technical specifications and timescales are adhered to throughout the execution of the contract and will be the first point of contact between the customer and the internal teams within the Westbury and Great Yarmouth sales and manufacturing facilities, following project award.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  1. Contract Review: To thoroughly review contract documentation and ensure that all obligations are fully understood and clarified, addressed within the project execution plan and appropriately communicated within the business.
  2. Project Launch (Kick-off): Implement / chair, kick off meetings between the LNG sales, and project management teams to ensure a successful handover of the project between both departments.
  3. Project Planning: To compile a Gantt chart, that shall be agreed between the customer and KLAW LNG, and become the project execution plan for internal departments within the Westbury and the Great Yarmouth engineering/manufacturing facilities, major suppliers and the customer.
  4. Document Preparation: Responsibly for ensuring all document packs / drawing / certification / IOM’s are collated and submitted to the client for approval to meet contractual milestone dates.
  5. Project Execution:
  • Work closely with, and co-ordinate internal departments, supply chain and customer to expedite and deliver the project plan.
  • Liaise with the design team and contribute towards technical discussions as well as system and product design improvements.
  • Co-ordinate with internal departments to aid continual development of products & services offered to customers, both internal and external.
  •  Work with the customer / KLAW LNG sales to “up-sell” additional packages on the contract such as spares, modifications & service contracts to improve the value / margins on any given contract.
  1. Reporting:
  • Provide weekly / monthly reports between KLAW LNG & the customer as required / agreed within the assigned contract.
  • Arrange weekly / monthly meetings with all stakeholders to ensure deadline dates are achieved in support of the successful delivery of the contract
  • Responsible for keeping the project file on the KLAW data base updated including the filing of all reports, drawing, certifications and any other documents associated with the project.
  • Monthly reports to the MD on status of the contract.
  1. Cost Management: Work with the sales / purchasing departs in support of cost savings to improve the agreed margin on any given contract.
  2. External Certification & Approvals: Liaise with relevant external bodies to facilitate required third party inspections and certifications.
  3. Factory Acceptance, Installation & Commissioning: Co-ordinate and work with third party inspectors / client visits to the Westbury and Great Yarmouth facilities during any required Factory Acceptance Testing / expediting visits.
  4. Post Contract Customer Support: Liaison with customer to close post commissioning technical & quality issues prior to handover to the aftermarket team.

The Senior Project Manager will ensure that project technical specifications and timescales are adhered to throughout the execution of the contract and will be the first point of contact between the customer and the internal teams within the Westbury and Great Yarmouth sales and manufacturing facilities, following project award.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Implement / chair, kick-off meetings between the LNG sales, and project management teams to ensure a successful handover of the project between both departments.
  • Be responsible for ensuring all document packs / drawing / certification / IOM’s are collated and submitted to the client for approval to meet contractual achievement dates.
  • Liaise with the design team and contribute towards technical discussions as well as system and product design improvements.
  • Co-ordinate with internal departments to aid continual development of products & services offered to customers, both internal and external.
  • Work with the customer / KLAW LNG sales to “up-sell” additional packages on the contract such as spares, modifications & service contracts to improve the value / margins on any given contract.
  • Responsible for keeping the project file on the KLAW data base updated including the filing of all reports, drawing, certifications and any other documents associated with the project.
  • Work with the sales / purchasing departs in support of cost savings to improve the agreed margin on any given contract.
  • Co-ordinate and work with third party inspectors / client visits to the Westbury and Great Yarmouth facilities during any required Factory Acceptance Testing / expediting visits.
  • Liaison with customer to close post commissioning technical & quality issues prior to handover to the aftermarket team.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role / relevant field. You will also have / be:

  • A professional project management qualification such as PMP or equivalent is desirable.
  • An ability to communicate on all levels and establish good working relationships in a global marketplace.
  • Resourceful with strong business ethics, initiative and versatility.
  • A phenomenal teammate able to run independent workload, while coordinating with colleagues.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
