We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Project Engineering team and will be responsible for:

  • Actioning technical design packages within the Docking and Mooring projects function at Trelleborg Marine and Technology. This includes generating a complete set of client documentation.
  • Coordinating supply activities to ensure the project design is fully tested, detailed and delivered on time and to budget.
  • Ensuring the engineering design of projects is in accordance with relevant local standards, statutory requirements, technical specifications and industry standard methodology.
  • Performing mechanical/structural CAD design and drafting, as well as deliver design and assembly drawings.
  • Working with other specialists and internal company personnel to define product design specifications, develop conceptual and final design solutions, run and coordinate project specific design and supply activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing/analysis of new and existing products.
  • Designing & drafting equipment to meet project requirements based on Trelleborg Marine Systems and customer requirements as well as relevant standards (IEC, AS, ISO etc.)
  • Assisting in generating Project Specific User Documentation; actioning and lead sourcing of BOM components and assemblies using ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX)
  • Co-ordinating and communicating project specific manufacture and test requirements; working with production team to ensure any manufacturing issues are resolved promptly and efficiently
  • Developing test procedures and plans for new and developing designs
  • Carrying out CAD modelling of system architecture or control philosophy for product design and development
  • Checking product assemblies and validate testing of products
  • Gaining and sharing knowledge of AS4100 / OCIMF / AWS and other mechanical and structural standards/practices
  • Assisting with the preparation and population of Installation, Operations and Maintenance documentation
  • Reviewing and approving manufacture (MDR/MRB) documentation such as material certificates, NDT reports, casting certificates
  • Updating design, technical specification and manufacturing documentation for standard products and provide recommendations to marketing/sales/projects team.
  • Carry out key Strategic Initiatives as detailed in the Strategic Plan

 To be considered for the position we must see:

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a mechanical design environment with a Design House, Contractor or Vendor; experience with 3D CAD (Solidworks), Microsoft Office and Project, Mathcad, and other tools.
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or having a valid visa for working in Australia.

 Key skills and Attributes:

  • Understanding of design principles, calculation formulas and manufacturing methods & process'
  • Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD and in Solidworks; excellent CAD modelling skills
  • Outstanding problem diagnosis and solving skills; high and appropriate attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in FEA desirable
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing, approving technical documentations, specifications, MDR/MDB documents will be advantageous

Summary of Role

  • Follows good manufacturing practices (GMP) and principles to develop robust manufacturing processes. Has a primary role in the engineering and validation of new products in the Biopharmaceutical assembly space but is also the subject matter expert for existing manufacturing operations in a clean-room environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes new product specifications and translates these into manufacturing processes to establish production rates, achieve expected quality levels and establish reliability of finished product.
  • Conducts reviews of new and revised mold tooling.
  • Acts as mold design review input champion.
  • Develops and optimizes polymer conversion process parameters for new tools.
  • Develops decoupled molding parameters to ensure process control.
  • Develops process parameters for secondary operations, including ultrasonic welding, bonding, and testing.
  • Conducts data analysis and collaboration with Project Engineering and Quality Engineering.
  • Perform Installation Qualifications (IQ) and Equipment Qualifications (EQ), as necessary.
  • Identifies Operational Qualification (OQ) process parameters and Performance Qualification (PQ) settings.
  • Develops and documents standard operating procedures (SOP) and product-specific operating procedures (PSOP).
  • Trains manufacturing personnel on SOPs and PSOPs.
  • Performs DOEs, and participates in the development of control plans, Process Maps, and PFMEA documentation.
  • Organizes internal cross-functional teams and corresponding outside vendors needed to meet project needs. Procures equipment as needed.
  • Uses standard problem solving tools, e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone.
  • Applies effective inter-departmental communication and escalation.
  • Owns tooling and process from a manufacturability standpoint from development to production release.
  • Partners with Quality department on investigation and corrective action for any failed First Article Inspection or OQ/PQ. 

Senior Process Engineer:

  • Provide mentorship to Process Engineers and Technicians
  • Autonomously directs team members to lead projects through to successful completion.
  • Provides mentorship to other Process Engineers and Technicians through experiences and education as opportunities arise

About the Job

In this role you will develop and construct elastomer-based, vibration-damping components for rail vehicles ("rubber-metal parts" and air spring systems). As well, you will be in charge of the creation of user documentation and FMEAs and the collection of RAMS/LCC datas. We are searching for a candidate who is an excellent teammate, is adept to undertake work on their own initiative and has a desire and aim to implement a ME culture in our workplace.

On a day-to-day basis, this role will include further responsibilities:

  • Technical project management and deadline tracking for development projects up to series production
  • Technical contact for our customers (component selection, problem solving)
  • Checking and commenting on customer specifications
  • Design (analytical / if necessary FEA) constructions of the components and systems
  • Checking and approval of the detailed construction under the aspects of function / manufacturability / costs
  • Creation / moderation of K-FMEA's
  • Creation of test plans for type and service life tests
  • Support in carrying out the specified tests (stiffness/ durability)

About the Ideal Candidate:

The Project Engineer / Development Engineer will have experience in a similar role / relevant field. You will also have:

  • Completed technical Studies in the field of mechanical engineering, vehicle technology or similar
  • Sound knowledge of technical mechanics, broad engineering knowledge, ideally FEA basic knowledge
  • Knowledge of creating FMEA's and user documentations
  • Safe handling of MS Office applications and a CAD program (Autodesk Inventor / Solid Works)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written German

CONTEXTE :

Les soufflets, quoique simples d’apparence, conditionnent la durée de vie de l’ensemble d’un système de transmission ou de direction. Le design d’un soufflet est une opération complexe qui intègre des problématiques telles que l’abrasion, la résistance chimique ou encore la fatigue tout en garantissant une étanchéité parfaite dans toutes les conditions de roulage du véhicule (vitesse, durée, température, etc.).

L’étude proposée consistera à améliorer la compréhension et la modélisation des phénomènes d’abrasion pouvant intervenir sur les soufflets de transmission. Un banc d’essai, spécifiquement développé pour mesurer les effets de l’abrasion (perte d’épaisseur), sera utilisé pour confronter la modélisation avec la réalité.

 

MISSIONS :

En collaboration directe avec les équipes de développement Trelleborg, le stagiaire aura pour mission de :

  • Comprendre le fonctionnement des produits Trelleborg ainsi que les conditions d’occurrence de la rupture par abrasion,
  • Lire & compléter la bibliographie existante sur la compréhension ainsi que la simulation de l’abrasion des élastomères,
  • Prendre en mains le logiciel de simulation éléments finis LS-Dyna et y intégrer un premier critère de prédiction de la rupture par abrasion,
  • Prendre en mains la machine d’abrasion développée par Trelleborg et réaliser une compagne d’essai pour calibrer le modèle développé.
  • Améliorer le modèle et apprécier sa prédictivité,
  • Émettre un rapport résumant la démarche de l’étude et incluant des préconisations de futurs développements pour prévenir la rupture par abrasion des soufflets Trelleborg.

 

PROFIL REQUIS :

  • Vous recherchez un stage de fin d'étude challengeant dans le domaine de la R&D et de l'Innovation
  • Vous possédez une bonne connaissance des outils informatiques et maîtrisez l’anglais écrit et parlé.

What defines you

  • Diploma or master's degree in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, or medical technology, preferably a doctorate degree

  • Additional experience with a competent authority or notified body for medical devices or an accredited laboratory
  • Strong communication, training and leadership skills, good organization, strategic thinking and reliability
